Here's a recently rediscovered Octamed mod (thanks Sperrett!), written way back in 1996. It's four tracks, vaguely dancey, vaguely Nine Inch Nailsy.

Any constructive criticism or feedback much appreciated, even if you hate it!

This is the first time I've tried linking to an ftp file, so please let me know if it doesn't download correctly. The file is 132kb. You should either be able to click Screwdriver, or right click and 'Save Target As'.

Enjoy!

Downloaded fine Steve, shame it wasn't zipped with a disclaimer text file though

Great little tune with some long forgotten samples. Takes me back a few years smile.gif

No problems downloading but as Ray has already pointed out due to the compensation crazy world we live in today... use WinZip and pop a disclaimer read me text (.txt) file in with it.

For example:
CODE

Title: Your Tunes Name
Style: Pick a Genre
Written & Produced by: Pop your name here
URL: www.your-website-here-if-you-have-one.com
eMail: me@no-frickin-spam.com

This track is freely distributable through the OctaMED FTP, website
and any forthcoming OctaMED or MedSoundstudio CD's only.
I (Your name here) grant RBF Software the rights to use this
track for the promotion of Med Soundstudio.
If you donīt belong to RBF Software, you are NOT allowed to use this
track for commercial projects.
All samples are free to use on Non-Commercial projects.
If you want to use my samples on any of your Med Soundstudio
tracks, just do it - just keep me informed about your tracks :o)

To the best of my knowledge, no samples used in this track are
copyright and should this prove to be incorrect, I am willing to
idemnify RBF Software against any ensuing copyright infringement
charges that may ensue due to me including such samples.

That way it covers your ass and RBF's.
I know it might seem a bit over the top but if you take a ganders at the "Med Support - Guidelines and Copyright Warning... read please!" then you'll understand.

Anyhow, great little track as I said before smile.gif

Hello chaps -

Thanks for your comments!

Apologies for not including a readme file - I've remedied this and modified the url to include one (which also means the file's now 94k)

Anyway, glad you liked the track - I may even have a new one (ie from within the last 5 years) to post soon.

The track I'm working on at the moment will be several meg in size - the AOL ftp space is 2 meg; I'm new to all this, so any advice on getting some webspace that I can post links to?

Cheers biggrin.gif

Try Soundclick.

Everybody I know has a soundclick site. Including me! biggrin.gif

My soundclick site

SoundClick is only ideal for MP3s but for MMD files then maybe Ray could help you out? I know that over at the general HQ (the official Med Site) that Ray has lot's of zipped original MMDs by users past and present. If it's not possible then I may look into hosting it myself on my website. smile.gif

Let me know and I'll help as much as I can because I know using AOLs webspace can be a total pain in the donut.

Blue.

As Blue said, I am more than happy to have new meds for the web site,
but unfortunately, until I can afford an extra ftp upload area for users,
(that won't be until V2 is released that's for sure), the only way to get
them to me is to send them as an attachment.
(providing your server allows large attachments, or
else you will have to split it into smaller sections).

If you go to the MED web site and select "med music files" from the
menu on the left you will see an area on the lower part of the screen
"Sending us your MED (MMD) Mods or MIDI Files" , that's what you want.

Thanks! smile.gif

When I'm on broadband Soundclick looks like a good option. At the moment we're out in the sticks and can't even get Channel 4...

Ray, I've just e-mailed details of a zip containing 6 mods to you. Is it possible to post url links to them, or do they need to be downloaded directly?

I'm actually in the process of converting all my old Amiga mods (about 600 of the things!) so in the long run I think I'll need to build up my own website to host them.

Blue - I may take you up on your offer of help and ask for some advice on how to do that once the mods are ready....

Ta!

Steve

If they are MED (MMD) or MIDI format, we prefer to host them
ourselves, however, if you submit a "User in Focus" page, you
can insert links to your own download URL.

Simply select the "users in focus" link on the left of the main page
and then fill in the small form on the right of the screen, send your
request for details

Even if you do that, you are still advised to add a disclaimer of some
discription regarding the samples you have used.

ie:

to my knowledge all samples used are in the public domain or have
been used with the owners knowledge.
