AFAIK all versions of MED Soundstudio are backwards-compatible with original OctaMED files (fill me in if I'm wrong, Ray), so long as you name each file with the .med extension (or else Windows can't associate them with MED).

You are right to a certain extent, as long as the MMD's were saved
without any compression they can be loaded/run (some might need
tweaking), on the windows version, however, most users saved
them in the compressed formats offered in OctaMED and due to
legalities etc, the 'only' compression format we can offer to
unpack those is the SFCD compression, so if you do have
SFCD compressed OctaMED MMD's you should browse to:
http://www.theess.de/med-soundstudio.html
Then download the MED Unpack v0.03 which is a small windows
program written by Jens to unpack MMD's saved using the
Amiga version of OctaMED utilising the SFCD compression.

well basically i only need the song data, there are no samples used at all, so its just the 50 odd blocks in the song i need transfered over. the only saving oiptions i have on octamed v3 is mod1+instrument, mod1 no instrument, mod0 [old] and st-module. er... please advice me more here as i wasn't joking when i said i was a newbie smile.gif

So I presume that you are not talking about
MODS (MMD's) after all, but MIDI files instead?

As far as I am aware, a file saved in the .mid format, should
load into the windows version without any conversion.

well yes i am talking about the mod files as i can only save the tracks in the 4 formats mentioned above, but the tracks contain no samples in the amiga tracks itself, just triggered song data etc [the samples are triggered on a sampler]..
so as far as i can see it its impossible for me to save in the .mid format on my amiga let alone transfer them over to my pc. close to giving up.. smile.gif
