Hi all! I've decided to give you all a "BIG" Tip from the depths of my vast knowledge....... BUY MED.ss !!! Because MED can do cool things like re-synthisize samples!!! Also cool people like me drop around the website every six months or so.
If your technically inclined, read on (this is probably an industry secret!!...shhh!!) I Tempogrid, will teach you the secret of the sample re-synth! note:one of my mods was destroyed whilst learning this technique. it was good. i miss it.
Firstly, I would like to thank James, your "under the bonnet" changes to MEDvs1.7a his fix to command 32 ticks per line is xcelent, and means the "09"command tempo spectum is more perceivable. The synth editior command "ENV2" (volume envelope : type2=looped wave) is the right-way-up, so bottom of the wave is "no volume" and top is "full volume". and you can "draw" onto the wave "live". cool. but you have to set up first...........
IF you have made a "black" background for windows you must change it 2 a lighter colour, so u can "synth sequence editor"...as "black on black" bug in synth editor.
I found, the best way to percive this is to set TEMPO @ 32ticks/line and 32lines/beat. 1. create a hybrid instrument. refer to "Help menu" for more details. 2. create several "new waves", insert a sinewave primitive shape. 3. "double" sinewave. (so that you have 2 smooth waves in 128bytes) 4. select & copy last 16 bytes of sinwaves. 4a. "shift" sinwaves to the right 16 bytes 4b. select & paste "last" 16 bytes into the front 16 bytes of wave. (sinwaves should now start at the bottom of the wave.) Copy wave to buffer. 5. goto next wave, copy wave from buffer, double again. (so that you have 4 smooth waves in 128bytes) repeat process 3 or 4 times. 6. set both "volume" and "wave sequence speeds" to 1. 7. now enter this code into synth editor "volume and wave sequences"....
volseq.....wavseq 40.......... HLT ENV2...... JVS 01.......... 01 HLT.........HLT ENV2.......JVS 02...........04 HLT.........HLT ENV2.......JVS 03...........07 HLT.........HLT etc..........etc... for a many looped volume envelope waves as you want 2 use. *use HLT in 1st line of volseq for smooth playback; although your instr. wont play under keys...or one could use a "All full volume" ENV2 wave at the top of the volume sequence. *HLT or halt is to stop the sequence; ENV2 "loop" keeps on play'n *HLT helps you to see better.....
ok so thats your hybrid instrument set up. Remember this sequence is an example ONLY. just 2 get u started. you dont have to use sinwaves shapes either; Artistic discression is advised.(note: you can draw your ENV2 "live") Remember to save your new synth/hybrid instrument for future use. One can also drop in new "samples" into the hybrid istrument synth mold.
8. using "command 0E" (by 3's) in MED's main trakker window, one can choose any "synth sequence entry point" to address our custom volume envelope waves (ENV2's) to attenu8 the note's volume. this is fun!
9. use gener8 slide to give every line a new "start-play-position" address with command29. if you have 32 pixels per wave (4waves) in your currently used "synth ENV2 wave" AND you have 32 Ticks per line, then you should notice that sound starts from zero, curves through full volume and returns to zero for every line = Bouncy volume, no clicks at re-addressed linechanges.
10. re-synthesis..this will take 2 tracks next to each other. the tricky bit. highlight the command 29 track AND the next track over. use "spread notes" from the drop-down menus to double-space consecutive start -play-positions over 2 tracks.
11. set a second "command page" for this block. enter a note on track1, line 1. enter a note on track2, line 2. For both notes: use a 0E command that asks for a "ENV2" that has 64 bytes per "synth wave"(2 smooth waves in 128bytes) this means we have 1 smooth wave transition every 2 lines. It also means, one tracks volume is going up, whilst the other tracks volume is going down!!! ENV2 waves that cancel each other out.
Ahh...DONE!!! 2track "crossfading" for sample re-synthisis!! @ 16bit resolution. of course, one can use different synth seq structures and tempo-grids.
127 bit "rubber pan" is only a step away...... I hope you understand this: then you can use it, cos you're smart.
I like lots of command pages of code, &MED is good for a RMX, I mix in my mods with the originals at my mobile dj parties and get the crowd cheering me on for it!!..if I can/they do.
Let me know if you use/like this technique. have some fun with it. thanx again James 4 making MED's "synth" easier for me to get my head around.

O.K. so I'm quoting myself...... ____________________________________________________________ note:one of my mods was destroyed whilst learning this technique. it was good. i miss it. ____________________________________________________________ ->my old girlfreind reckons my mod saved to a "bad sector" on my hardrive. Learning to save "properly" always helps, especially when trying new techniques. Make backups. if your Hardrive is getting full and you might need to de-fragment soon: then you should check your mods after saving them using a second instance of MED. especially if its a "big" MOD file.
