Hell turrican ! there's a name i'll never forget

That was one of the first games on the amstrad cpc that applied this rather neat effect of making it look like there were more colours on the screen than there actually were

Switchblade 1 on the amstrad. that had amazing music

Mega blast from xenon 2 on the amiga ! (ok it sounds a tad rough now but its still good)

In game music from rygar on the c64

Er....let me think....

Me!?!

I deserve at least 1 vote as no one else looks likely to give it. Never heard of me? Well don't worry - you are one of millions. And there you were thinking you were unique!

LOL

I thought it was the Maniacs of Noise that did music on Cybernoid 1 & 2 (Charles Deenen & Jeroen Tel).

For me, my top 4 are:-

1) Martin Galway
2) Rob Hubbard (Only because I've played his stuff to death lol)
3) Chris Huelsbeck
4) Maniacs of Noise.

Some classic tunes there!

R-TypeIII on the C64? Was this an independant release after it's demise? I didn't even know there was a R-Type 2 lol. Chris Hulsbeck was responsible for the music and sound on the C64 R-Type I.
Check out the zip... they are all in there.

Just thinking ahead... was it perhaps Turrican 3?

Blue

Sorry my bad, I meant the original R-Type. I got confused with III because I have a SNES emulator on my xbox...and was playing it recently.

I don't know about Turrican 3 but Turrican 2 was the music that got me to thinking maybe I could use my Amiga to make music, hence OctaMED and here I am 14 years later, in 4 bands, collaberating with 3 others and still using MED although on the PC.

PS Hi Blue, all that ambient stuff of yours I've been listening to has been giving me ideas!

I have to admit that I often wonder that through the years, just how many OctaMED users have, through it's use, taken up an instrument , become involved with bands and are still enjoying what was probably at first, just a slight interest in making music via their computer. cool.gif

Me for one lol

If it werent for med i doubt I'd have started creating music or even taken an intrest. Im toying with getting my old amiga 1200 set back up with med and taking it back to basics so to speak cool.gif

Actually Ray, i was a guitarist and in bands way before discovering the fun to be had with OctaMED (quick check on Wikipedia) in fact my involvement in music predates MED by 12 years but it was (octa)MED which got me started with computer music which has been so much fun.

Even though my band used a computer sequencer in the studio way back in 1986 (to edit bum notes from my piano solo) it never occured to me that home computers were good for music making until octaMED. Nowadays even my guitar (variax) and amp (vetta) contain computers. The techno band I used to play live with would never have existed if not for OctaMED on the Amiga, I mean, playing live and relying on a mid-90s PC would be a bit scary. blink.gif

Even though I now have CuBase most tunes still start in MED, it is simply the fastest and easiest way to program drum tracks and/or sequence samples and loops.

You are definitely on my list for beta testing V2 then.

I believe I already volunteered, Ray, I would be delighted. It means I'll find any bugs which would impact the way I work and have 'em fixed. Who wouldn't volunteer for that?

Back on topic, whoever did the music for the PC game Dark Star One did a great job. Also Freelancer.
