I still use OctaMed Soundstudio v1.03c, on my Amiga A4000/040.

I used a very early version of MED as well, back a very long time ago, on a Amiga A500. In fact I still have it somewhere!

I really have to sit down and get to grips with PC MED v1.7a smile.gif

I first started using MED when version 1.1 was on the coverdisk of a friend's copy of Amiga format, either at the very end of 1991 or beginning or 1992. I still preferred the classic custom interface on the older versions, so continued to use OctaMED 4 even after v5 was released. I haven't really had a proper play with the Soundstudio 1.7 demo for the PC yet but I'm gonna try and set aside some time next week. Definitely looking forward to the all new version 2.0 though!

Does anybody know why most of the original Amiga composers always insisted on using Soundtracker/Noisetracker/Protracker for their productions when MED 3 and beyond was obviously a far superior program?! I always found that odd! Was it just that it was much easier to wirte a mod-player into the game or demo source code than it was to code a player for MED format?

@FunkyGeeza

I think it was because the MED player routine was copyrighted and the others weren't. Also the MED player was slower than ProTracker. Thirdly I think the rules on the demo Compos limited the use of external libraries at the time so they had to embed the music player.

I think when version 2 is out, we should inundate computer music magazine with emails telling them how good it is.  smile.gif

The time is upon us (well, very soon - AT LAST),
so get ready writting/emailing those mags.
Don't forget to mention how cheap it is rolleyes.gif

(This v2 is for windows of course)
